Hi, there. I am a licensed Architect in Arizona and the founder of Studio Golden LLC. I have been professionally leading small residential and commercial design and additions for 5 years and I have a Bachelor of Architecture degree from The University of Arizona. While working at a reputable Architecture and Construction firm I noticed an increase in small residential projects that needed attention, So, I formed Studio Golden LLC.
This firm is concerned with the responsibility to retain simple charm in Tucson. I do this by offering simple design solutions that consider existing building scale, layout, style, and neighborhood typology. We consider space with natural daylight indoor and outdoor and are professionally trained to design structural systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and hvac systems. We think critically about how you use the space to make real-life spaces that are worth the cost to build.
I work with the city, I build relationships, I translate ideas into drawings. I assemble teams, and I am a team member, I communicate with builders and property owners. I work with engineers, designers, craftspeople, and builders. It is impactful, and rewarding work. Good space can invigorate and support you. For example, a good room with dappled natural light coming through the leaves of a tree outside the window. A private side door with a path to a gate for a walk. A building is in-active, but it can do beautiful things for us. Like support our health, well-being, and life goals.
We brake up the process into 3 main sections.
1. Design and Estimating.
2. Construction Drawings and Permitting.
3. Construction Consultant. (during construction)
Many property owners have a vision of what they would like to build but don't yet know how much it will cost or what the limitations are. The design and estimating step allows the property owner time to turn their vision into a real drawn design and compare it to price estimates that we provide. This way, one can make adjustments based on cost while using design to think critically about the desired end goal and how exactly that is being delivered.
Once the design is complete, we can move on to making construction drawings. These drawings are used in two main ways. To obtain permits from the City, and for a builder to follow. These drawing sets show how the entire building comes together with details of structure, utilities, dimensions, and materials, amongst many other things needed to build the project.
Once the permits are released by the City, it is time to build. We can work to get bids from contractors and assist the contractor during construction. We can visit the site and work with the contractor in support of the property owner to deliver a higher quality product. This part is essential because the person who made the drawings is more clear of the intentions than the person who is reading them.
Thank you!
